Inert Environment

a) Replace the normal environment with an inert one.

b) Carry out the process in a vacuum.
 

EXAMPLE:
  1. Due to the lack of oxygen in vacuum shrink packs, the storage time of food can be increased.
  2. Covering the welding arc with an inert gas (argon) prevents oxidation of the weld.
  3. As a preventive measure against fire, cotton is often shipped in an inert atmosphere.
  4. A carbon dioxide fire extinguisher.
