40 Inventive Principles
Equipotentiality

Change the working conditions so that an object doesn't have to be raised or lowered.

EXAMPLE:
  1. The control system of a self-contained mobile robot (e.g. a moon Lander) guides it over the terrain avoiding obstacles like hills, rocks and crevasses by going around them instead of driving over them.
  2. Changing the oil or other maintenance work on heavy vehicles is done in a pit under the vehicle, avoiding the need for expensive lifting equipment.
