12 General Principles
Consumption - Regeneration

Elements, consumed in a system or process, are regenerated within the same system or process.

Elements, which have been consumed and have fulfilled their purpose, are removed or modified for other applications.

HINT:
  1. Build a self-service system that carries out auxiliary, maintenance and repair functions by itself, utilising its own resources and waste products (energy, material).
  2. Temporarily contract external support for business divisions where you do not have core competence and when currently it is neither sensible nor viable, financially or time-wise, to develop this area.
  3. Related technical TRIZ Principles: 25. Self-service , 34. Rejecting and regenerating parts
EXAMPLE:
  1. Flexible project teams with a variable size are composed of a core group, supported by various members that are called in as required.
  2. Temporarily employment of subcontractors, agency staff or external project mangers.
  3. Temporarily lease out underemployed specialists to other companies.
  4. The motivation and creativity of employees decreases during the day. It has to be regularly refreshed through suitable measures ("motivation boost").
  5. Advanced vocational training - seen as an inevitable circular process - and sometimes performed directly at the workplace, is increasingly regarded as "part of the job".
  6. Utilisation of all available resources, waste products and energies in the industrial systems.
